What to do if the fire alarm is activated

Don't Panic!

Calmly leave the building and wait outside until UAPD or Fire Safety informs you it is safe to return.   Employees remaining in a building after the fire alarm has activated, may be fined or be subject to disciplinary action. Contractors remaining in a building after the fire alarm has activated, may be fined or removed from the University of Arizona campus either temporarily or permanently.

The most common fire alarms are:

Buring Food (esp. Popcorn)

Burning candles or incense

Hairspray

Smoking in Buildings

What if I accidentally activated or think I might have activatted a fire alarm

Immediately contact the University of Arizona Police Department a (520) 621-873 (UAPD)

Fines associated with intentional or negligent activition of a fire alarm

Fines include but are not limited to:

$500/ Per emergency vehicle / Per hour

$75/ Per emergency responder/ Per hour

Any cost associated with damages

Any cost associated with needed repairs
